Pack 486 Webelos braved the chilly temperatures to spend the day outdoors learning how to identify trees and plants in Umstead Park. Scouts hiked in order to get a good look at the types of plants in our area, inspect some roots, read a trees history, and really get out and see how the forest works as they completed requirements for the Forester Activity Pin.
Need to identify a Christmas fern? See where a tree had drought years? Want to see if a tree is a white or blackjack oak? Tell you about the different layers in the forest? Ask a Webelos (but be prepared to hike).
